The Journey of Whites Creek Food Forest

Hear about the origins of the food forest, its permaculture principles and how the food forest is creating a focus in the community.

Volunteering at the Food Forest 2 or 3 times a month is both enjoyable and educational for me. I love meeting up with others in my neighbourhood who have an interest in growing things and contributing to our park , and I have found it very interesting to learn about permaculture practice and principles."

“I’m happy and proud to be part of such a dedicated group of volunteers who have built up this fabulous food forest from the start. It’s wonderful knowing I’ve done my bit to help it to grow and to know how much park users appreciate it.

“I have believed for a long time that it is vital for people to cultivate plants that can be used for food so that food miles are reduced. This falls under "think globally, act locally "philosophy. As I work on my own most of the time during the week it is a pleasant experience for me to work as part of a team for a common purpose that benefits the local community".
